We didn't want to be a museum anyway - how we failed to be eligible for a £100k prize

Now a Self Catering Holiday Home and visitor experience...perfectly relaxing...

Welcome to 5 CWMDONKIN DRIVE - join us on a journey through history. This house played a large part in shaping the style and output of one of the finest poets of the Twentieth Century. Dylan Thomas was born in the first floor front bedroom of the house in 1914 and continued to return to the family home until his parents moved out in 1937. Over two thirds of his published output was written in this house - most in the tiny bedroom next to the gurgling hot water pipes in the airing cupboard

The house has been restored to original condition when bought as a new house in 1914. From 27th October 2008 (Dylan's 94th birthday) the house has been  available to let as a themed holiday experience - for example, if you book for 14th August 2009 you will enter 5 Cwmdonkin Drive on 14th August 1915 - a newspaper of the day will await you but no phone, no television and no radio!

We guarantee though that there will be something you will see or touch in this house that will live with you for a long time after. It is a house that evokes memories of Florrie Thomas' cooking and cleaning, Dylan's father DJ's life as Head of English at Swansea Grammar School and his sister Nancy's desire to be an actress.
