DYLAN Down the Uploads 2009 Subject
title + imagination + camera = a photo challenge with a difference! In association with South Wales Evening Post and uPix Go to the online entry form here Take
one photograph with a digital camera interpreting twelve subject titles over
an eight hour period and that’s the Dylan Down the Uploads - a
Photographic Challenge with a Difference! But….
the subject title is only the start – where you go is influenced by you, your
imagination, the sight and sounds of the area around you – Dylan’s home town. This
challenge is for everyone with a desire to express the passion Dylan Thomas
felt as he grew up and was influenced by the ‘…ugly, lovely...’ town
of Swansea. Photographs will be judged on their uniqueness as much as the
photographic skill. Above all this is
an event that should be fun! The Dylan Down the Uploads concept is not new. It’s a form of Photomarathon which takes place all over the world. The nearest one to Swansea is in Cardiff (www.photomarathon.co.uk) and there are others in places as far afield as Berlin, Glasgow, Sydney and Florida. THE CODE

Format |
Entries will only be
accepted in digital format on a digital storage card in the SD format. This
card fits the majority of modern digital cameras. Entrants will be supplied
with a card upon registration. The organisers will take one photograph of the
entrant using their camera to record their entry number at the start. |
|
How it works |
The subject titles will be
issued from the Dylan Down the Uploads base at intervals during the
day. This will allow participants to meet and discuss their experiences with
other competitors – after all, this is a fun event! The emphasis will be on
innovation in the treatment of the subjects rather than the quality of the
photograph |
|
The Aim |
The entrant must record or
choose only one photograph for each subject title within each time interval. The photographs must be
strictly in the order that the subjects are issued. Photographs should be
taken at the highest resolution possible and in .jpg format to allow for
possible publication. The
SD card will be handed in at the end of the challenge and copies of the
photographs will be available for download from our website through uPix. |
